Tesla’s Buffalo gigafactory commits to producing ventilators

The recently closed Tesla factory in Buffalo, New York will soon be reopened to produce life-saving ventilators after a Twitter exchange between Elon Musk, Nate Silver, and Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City. Musk has since promised 1,000 ventilators available within a week as of last Saturday, in collaboration with ventilator maker Medtronic.

Additionally, Musk promised to send N95 masks to hospitals in need. “We have 250k N95 masks,” he told CleanTechnica. “Aiming to start distributing those to hospitals tomorrow night. Should have over 1,000 ventilators by next week.”
